Shiatsu as a therapy originates from Japan whilst referring to traditional chinese medicine as it's core foundation principles. The philosophy underlying Shiatsu is that vital energy, known as Ki in Japan, Chi or Qi in China and Prana in India, flows through our body along channels called meridians. These can become blocked and the flow of balancing energy or lifeforce is compromised. This then produces a range of dis-ease symptoms, ie headache, aches and pains.

In Shiatsu a variety of techniques are applied to improve your energy (lifeforce) flow. These may include gentle holding, pressing with palms, thumbs, fingers and elbows, knees and feet, and more dynamic stretches. Shiatsu is a therapy that works on the individual rather than a standard treatment to all. It’s influence can positively affect our physical, mental and emotional well being. Regular shiatsu treatments are a way to increase your overall vitality and can be part of your on going health maintenance programme for life. Shiatsu has been found to be beneficial in the relief of various symptoms, helping you through the pressures of daily life or just to feel good!

What to expect during and after a treatment:

A consultation plus treatment generally lasts an hour or so. The first session will be slightly longer due to a health questionnaire being completed. The practitioner will take into consideration a number of aspects to include diet, posture, family history, oriental diagnostics, lifestyle, emotions, all in order to ascertain an overall picture of your health. Treatment is given on a padded floor mat. The client stays fully clothed.

After treatment it is recommended that you drink plain water to help your body better process the physical treatment and to bring about a positive response. Try to avoid streneous exercise or excessive mental activity for a short time so that your body and mind can enjoy the relaxation and balancing aspects of Shiatsu.


Consultation & Treatment:

3 - 5 treatments are initially recommended for improved well being.
Allow upto 1 1/4 hrs per appointment.

BodyEase is an upper body treatment given fully clothed with client sitting in a comfortable and adjustable natural wood chair. The 10, 20 or 30 minute stress release routine is aimed at relieving tired aching muscles and to bring about a sense of well being leaving you feeling relaxed, calm yet energised and alert.

The treatment routine works along the head, neck, shoulders, arms, hands and back and incorporates Shiatsu acupressure points, gentle stretches and simple effluage massage techniques.

A BodyEase treatment is ideal for a personal individual treatment as part of your committment to a healthful lifestyle. It is very popular within the business community to have a regular day when staff can receive treatments as part of the company's commitment to staff well being. Reflexology ~ Therapeutic Foot Massage

What is it?
Reflexology
helps rejuvenate our physical well being, to restore a natural state of balance leaving you feeling nicely relaxed & refreshed. Foot massage was used in ancient Egypt and by various cultures around the world, much to the delight of many a weary traveller and worker.

Reflexology is based on the concept that our whole body is reflected in zones and areas on the feet. The massage movements and ‘thumb-finger walking’ techniques applied to your feet helps to release stored tensions or congestion. This in turn helps in the release of all manner of stress related health symptoms and many common ailments. A Reflexology treatment assists your body in it’s own self healing process as part of your on going health maintenance programme.

Go on, be good to yourself and put your feet up. No responsibilities and no guilt. Just indulge yourself as you are worth it. Treatment will be given fully clothed, except having bare feet! and you'll recline in a comfortable chair.


Consultation & Treatment:


Allow upto 1 1/4 hrs. To treat a specific ailment a coure of at least 5 treatments is advised spaced at one a week for a 3-5 weeks, then once a fortnight to one a month for on going maintenance.
Alternatively a one off treatment is ideal to relax and unwind, for example on a monthly basis.

Reiki ~ Healing with Universal Life Force

Reiki originates from Japan but is now most poplular all over the world. It is believed that 'universal energy' is manafested and drawn down through the Healer, upon request, down to the receiver. Reiki assists in healing the mind-body-emotions as requested by the receiver’s intuitive self (consciousness). Although the Healer generally works systematically over the whole body with hands either gently laid on the body or just above, there are also times when the healer will intuitively move to a specific place. Reiki can be used in combination to other treatments and medications and indeed is highly complementary to them.

Treatment is given to the receiver fully clothed and being in a comfortable position generally either lying down or siting.

What are Bach Flower Remedies?

They are an energy medicine system of ‘healing by restoring harmony in awareness’. Developed in the 1930’s by Dr. Edward Bach who was a Harley Street doctor and trained in Homoeopathy. Dr Bach saw the connection between mental and physical wellbeing and health. Dr Bach observed that two people can have the same disease taking the same medicine but perhaps both will not be cured. Our emotional state of health has such a profound effect on how we manage dis-ease and our quality of life. By using remedies for each individual's mood state and emotions their health and well being can be supported.
