BACH FLOWER REMEDIES

Some examples of the use of these natural healers for emotional well being. 1. Salsa Dancing 2. Cats Moving Home

Salsa Dancing

Latin style dancing is very popular now and loads of people, men and women of all ages and body shapes participate. It is a great form of exercise, being quite cardio-vascular at times. It can also bring people together, quite literally and an activity that presents no difficulty if you don't have a partner. You will be partnered up soon enough in the dance class as you 'change partners' every few minutes.

So, there you are trying to get to grips with the latin rhythms ... 1 2 3, 5 6 7 ... and building up the confidence to elegantly swing your lady around or as a women, to sexily extend your arms around your curvecious body. Then in the blink of an eye the couple next to you have flung arms and legs into your space and it then happens!

No longer feeling sexy or elegant, your piercing howl at having been wacked in the face with an elbow, or having a sharp heel dug into your foot, or scraped along the back of your calf, or knocked flying. We've all experienced this or will do so at some time or another. Be prepared.

I now carry with me when going dancing a mixed up bottle of Bach Rescue Remedy (1) drops. This can easily be administered orally and topically to the injured area whilst having a sit down between dances. There are sprays available which are easy and hygenic to use. As soon as I am able I will also apply Bach Rescue Remedy cream to the injured sites.

I observed that by promptly using Rescue Remedy that my bruising and discomfort were less than a friend of mine who also suffered the same injuries and did not use the remedies.

TIP: keep regularly applying the cream until the bruising comes out and eases. Of course if you suspect a more serious injury do seek professional medical advice as soon as possible. In this case you can often still use the Rescue Remedy cream/drops to aid a speedier recovery. Check with the medical practitioner.

What is Rescue Remedy?
It is made up of several flower essences which act to balance and stablise our positive mood and well being at times of emergency or emotional pressure.
... Clematis: to help refocus after a shock, or if faint to feel more grounded
... Impatiens: for tension, agitation
... Star of Bethlehem: to balance after a shock or alarm
... Rock Rose: to bring about courage if feeling alarmed or scared
... Cherry Plum: calmness
... Crab Apple (cream only): for cleansing and soothing

The cream soothes and restores the skin. The remedies are safe to use on their own and in combination with other treatments and medications. Check with your medical practitioner.

Cats Cat Moving Home
top page

How many people have this same experience? You move home and your beloved moggie(s) find it hard to settle down to their new environment. Of course they will need a little while to explore their new surroundings but somehow they are not themselves. You end up fretting and at your wits end as they cry all night, or will not eat, perhaps they will not even go outside or pace around their new home.

Q. What to do that is easy, cheap and often works in just a few days?

Again we find help from our old friends the Bach Flower Remedies (1). I advised some friends who were experiencing this problem with their cats on a recent house move to a lovely area. No noisy or busy roads and loads of lovely garden to explore but the cats would not settle. Neither could their owners because of this.

I advised the use of Walnut and Star of Bethlehem flower essences. 2 drops from each tincture bottle put into the cat's water bowls each day. Also the owners may benefit from taking these remedies as well.

... Walnut: adjusting to a new environment and all sorts of change
... Star of Bethlehem: to recover from the shock or trauma of being taken away from a familiar environment into a new one.

Other possibly indicated remedies:
...Honeysuckle: to help live in the present if holding onto the past too much, an easier transition
... Larch: if lacking confidence with exploring their new environment
... Aspen: for unexplained fears and worries, anxiety
... Vervaine: full of energy, highly strung, excitable

Happy and contented animals enjoy life and have fewer health problems. We know that our pets express positive and negative emotions and if negative emotions are held for long term they can impact on the behaviour and healthfulness of our companions.
